HYPE GVA Taiwan’s 6th training program has officially launched with enthusiastic participation from both domestic and international teams.

The launch event for the 6th training program of the Taiwan Sports Innovation Accelerator, HYPE Global Virtual Accelerator Taiwan, was held today at the Taiwan Tech Arena. Lin Zhe-Hong, Deputy Director-General of the Sports Administration, and Huang Jing-Yao, Director of the Industry Accelerator Center at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, were present at the event. Lin Zhe-Hong stated that one of the policy goals of the Sports Administration is to enhance Taiwan’s visibility by promoting sports on an international level. With the growing enthusiasm for sports among the Taiwanese population, there has been a flourishing of enterprises focused on sports innovation technology. The increased number of registrations from domestic teams in this edition reflects the burgeoning sports innovation potential in Taiwan.

In the 6th edition of the training program, a total of 43 domestic and international sports innovation teams have registered to participate. Among these teams, 10 will be selected after the preliminary selection process to enter the 6th training program. Additionally, relevant panel discussions have been arranged, inviting representatives from Taiwan Mobile and outstanding corporate teams to share their experiences in sports innovation management. The program will span two and a half months and will be conducted through a combination of physical events and online innovation courses. In addition to the international instructors from HYPE, the domestic instructors include Kang Chi-Chiu, Marketing Director of iKala Smart Marketing, and Huang Wen-Hua, Deputy Director of IoT and Platform Product Department at Taiwan Mobile, among other industry elites. They will guide the participating teams in learning and provide opportunities for business consultations and international connections.

HYPE GVA Taiwan has successfully completed 5 training programs to date, nurturing a total of 54 innovative teams from both domestic and international backgrounds, continuously making strides in the field of sports innovation. Among them, the team from the 2nd edition, Jian Ling Technology, was awarded the Silver Medal at the 2019 Paris International Invention Exhibition for their “Smart Motion Sensing Platform.” The team from the 3rd edition, WhiizU, developed a “Virtual Indoor Cycling Training App” that creates real-world cycling routes in a virtual environment and won the iF Design Award at the 2021 Taipei International Cycle Show.
