2022 ASPN x HYPE GVA Taiwan Demo Day

The HYPE Global Virtual Accelerator Taiwan program was commissioned by the Sports Administration of the Ministry of Education Taiwan and implemented by the National Yang-Ming Chiao Tung University. HYPE GVA Taiwan has collaborated with the APEC Sports Policy Network (ASPN) this year (2022). On July 20th, the “2022 ASPN x HYPE GVA Taiwan Sports Innovation Accelerator” showcase was held at Taipei 101. The morning session involved exchanges and sharing among ASPN, international sports innovation experts, and sport-tech startups. The afternoon session was the pitch competition of the 8th cycle of HYPE GVA Taiwan startups, where over 15 outstanding sports innovation teams from previous years demonstrated their achievements alongside exciting stage activities.

ASPN was established in Taiwan in 2016 to provide an information exchange and sharing platform for sports industry officials, academics, and businesses in APEC economies. The morning session invited ASPN member economies, including Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, and the United States, along with 5 international startups.  Professor Laurel Walzak of the University of Toronto, and Sansanee Huabsomboon, Director-General of the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) of Thailand, to discuss and share their experiences in improving the exposure of sports communities.

In the afternoon, the 8th cycle HYPE GVA Taiwan program results were announced through a presentation competition by 10 international sports innovation teams from Israel, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Singapore, and Taiwan.

Nearly 30 professional judges from the sports industry, corporate executives, and media selected the winning teams of the day, with RunMe, IoGym, AQUIVIO, Ness Wellness, E-Nano, Box2Box, and IMOTEK receiving generous prizes, including a free one-year upgrade to IAPS matchmaking platform membership, co-working space access, HYPE magazine column opportunities, free one-on-one investment courses, and exhibition booths at international events.
