Supervisory Authority

The APEC Sports Policy Network (ASPN) is overseen and implemented by the Department of International Affairs of the Ministry of Sports, Republic of China (Taiwan).

To more effectively coordinate mass sports, elite sports, the sports industry, and sports diplomacy, the government elevated the former Sports Administration under the Ministry of Education into the new Ministry of Sports, officially inaugurated in 2025. This structural upgrade marks an important milestone in Taiwan’s sports governance, enabling a clearer, more strategic, and more coherent national approach to sports development across multiple domains.

Within this ministry, the Department of International Affairs plays a central and strategic role. It is responsible for shaping Taiwan’s international sports engagement—from promoting cross-border cooperation and advancing sports diplomacy, to supporting national teams on the global stage, securing opportunities to host international events, and strengthening the visibility of the Team Taiwan brand. Through close collaboration with international sports organizations and regional networks, the Department enhances Taiwan’s soft power, deepens international partnerships, and elevates the nation’s global sports profile. The ASPN program is one of the department’s key international initiatives, serving as a platform that connects Taiwan with APEC economies and positions the country as an active contributor to sports policy and sports innovation in the Asia-Pacific region.
